Gran Canaria is the second largest island in the Canarian Archipelago and is certainly the ideal location to enjoy our year round sunshine and fabulous beaches. By evening, the resort areas come to life and offer a whole host of entertainment to suit everybody.
However, beyond the resort areas the island is incredibly diverse and has so much more to offer. The capital city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is very cosmopolitan and offers two distinct experiences, offering both the modern areas along with the old quarter of Vegueta which is drenched in history. The highlight here is the Catedral de Santa Ana, which is surrounded by a maze of cobbled streets and typical pavement cafés. The city is also famous for its links with Cristopher Columbus, as Las Palmas was his final stop before heading across the Atlantic and discovering “The Americas”.
As a result of the islands volcanic origin, the majority of the coastal areas and lower land are rather arid. However, the interior of the island is incredibly dramatic and the higher you climb you enter into a breathtaking adventure of “greenery and scenery!”
Here we present a collection of the most popular excursions which give you the opportunity to discover the real Gran Canaria….
